The Second Ordinary General Meeting of Members

The second annual general meeting of members was held on June 9, 2020.

It was held by written votes in view of Covid-19 situations. The FY2019 financial statements, the FY2020 activity and budget plans, appointment of one new director and renewal of the officers’ term were approved.

The Extraordinary General Meeting
JISS held an Extraordinary General Meeting.

Date: September 30, 2019 (Monday) 13:00-13:15
Place: International Conference Hall, National Diet Office Building

・The 1st Agenda (Appointment of Directors):

Dr. Hideaki Watanabe, Dr. Shinichi Nakasuka and Mr. Peter Marquez
were approved as new directors.

・The 2nd Agenda (Assigned Advisors):

The President reported on the assignment of 32 advisors and all ofthem  were confirmed.

・The 3rd Agenda (Others):

 Vice President Nishiyama reported on the JISS activities to date and all 
were well received.

JISS participated in The symposium co-sponsored by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the Japan Space Forum, Toranomon, Tokyo – February 8, 2019

The Symposium on “The Latest Technological Trends and Future for Global Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) using Şpace” was held on February 8, 2018 (Fri). Mr. Eiichi Kiuchi, Research Fellow, JISS participated in a panel discussion as a moderator and gave a lecture on “Ocean Broadband and Big Data will open the way to a New Maritime Nation.”
 More than 200 people attended and concluded successfully.

JISS participated in the Mansfield Foundation’s Symposium
, Shinagawa, Tokyo – February 7, 2019

The Mansfield Foundation held the U.S.-Japan Space Forum Symposium entitled
“US-Japan Space Cooperation in the Second Space Era” supported by the US Embassy Japan. Mr. Junichi Nishiyama, JISS Deputy Director-General, participated in the panel discussion on the second stage of US-Japan Space Cooperation.
More than 100 people from the U.S. and Japan attended. It concluded successfully.

The 1st Research Workshop (mini-symposium) held

Date: December 6 (Thursday), 2018
Place: International Conference Room of the National Diet Members Building No. 1

JISS held the first Research Workshop on Space and Security for members and invited guests. A total of 81 people including a dozen of National Diet members, 20 individual members, 10 corporate members, 13 members from the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Defense (MOD), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and 26 invited individuals, companies and organizations. The workshop was very successful with intensive expert lectures and rigorous exchange of views with participating members.
